Global Day of Climate Action.
Join Leagues and others around the world on September 24 to call attention to the need to get off of fossil fuels and move towards a sustainable, renewably-powered future. In 2010, the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere was just shy of 390 parts per million (ppm) -- well beyond the 350 ppm that leading climate scientists say is the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere. Our Leagues are making plans to be a part of this worldwide demonstration, Moving Planet, helping to send a message to policymakers that it's time to get moving on the climate crisis.

Lunch with a Leader -- Jason Lott, Superintendent of Bandelier.
Jason Lott, superintendent of Bandelier, will be our speaker. Jason will be talking about the future of Bandelier, the recovery from the fire, and the Park's future plans.
Lott served as the program manager for resources management at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park. In that role, he was named the 2005 recipient of the director's award for natural resource management in a small park. He also recently completed 20 years of service with the Army National Guard, where he commanded the 1086th Transportation Company in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq during 2003. Immediately prior to coming to Bandelier, Lott was the superintendent at Casa Grande Ruins National Monument. "Jason brings to his new job a passion for heritage preservation and protection, and a commitment to connect with the people of Los Alamos and surrounding communities", said regional director Mike Snyder. "He has a wealth of experience and a deep appreciation for the parks."
"I am very excited to have been given the opportunity to serve at Bandelier," Lott said. "It's a very special place with unique cultural resources, dynamic natural resources, wilderness, camping, trails, active partners and an involved gateway community. What a wonderful place for a career and for my family." Lott, his wife Wendy, also a graduate of Northwestern State, and their two children are excited to make their home in Los Alamos. Lott holds a master's degree in history with an emphasis in cultural resource management from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
All meals on the extensive menu are just $15 including tax and gratuity.
Please RSVP to Becky Shankland (rebecca.shankland@gmail.com) or call her at 672-9106 by Wednesday, October 12. Knowing the approximate number of people attending helps the Grill set up for the group;
