Membership

Membership in the League of Women Voters is open to anyone, male or female, of voting age. All members of the League of Women Voters of Los Alamos are automatically members of both the League of Women Voters of New Mexico and LWVUS.

Regular dues are $45 for a single member and $65 for a household. A substantial fraction of this, almost 80%, is forwarded to the state and national Leagues. For that reason LWVLA also offers a Sustaining Membership category, $75 for a single member and $95 for a household, for members who wish to provide more support to the work of the local Los Alamos League. Reduced rate memberships are available for individuals who are unable to pay the full amount but who are interested in becoming active members of the League. Send inquiries to the membership chair.

All members receive all membership benefits, including a subscription to the National Voter and the state League newsletter La Palabra as well as voting rights in the local League and a subscription to the local newsletter. Fill out the membership form ( Word / PDF ) and send it with your check to

In addition, the LWVLA offers another option for non-members to support the League. "Friends of the LWVLA" the may receive our "friendly reminder" e-mails about upcoming activities, as well as our electronic newsletter. Friends are welcome to attend LWVLA meetings but do not have membership rights or have a vote in LWVLA elections or other decisions. To become a Friend of the League, a minimum $30 annual donation is required. See the contribution form ( Word / PDF ). This is a great way to stay involved and support the League even if you don't want to become a member.

Donations to the League's Educational Fund are tax-deductible and directly support many of the programs put on here by the League of Women Voters Los Alamos. Donations to the Ed Fund are, of course, welcomed from members and non-members alike. Separate checks should be made out to the LWVLA Educational Fund.
