Primary Election 2018

Important Dates

May 8, 2018

- Voter Registration Closes at 5 PM: NMSA 1978 Sec. 1-4-8;
- Absentee Voting Begins: NMSA 1978 Sec. 1-6-5(E) and (F);
- County Clerk begins mailing absentee ballots

May 19, 2018

- Early Voting Begins: NMSA 1978 Sec. 1-6-5.7(A)

June 1, 2018

- Last day the County Clerks may mail an absentee ballot: NMSA 1978 Sec. 1-6-5(H)

June 2, 2018

- Early Voting Ends: NMSA 1978 Sec. 1-6-5(H) and 1-6-5.7(A)

June 5, 2018

- Primary Election Day. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.: NMSA 1978 Sec. 1-8-11
- Absentee ballots are due to the County Clerks office by 7 p.m.

Register to Vote

Voter registration is open until 28 days before an election. Changes in registration (name, address, party affiliation) are accepted during the same periods.

How to register to vote -

Online - Visit the New Mexico Secretary of State Voter Registration

In person - Register or change your registration in person at the County Clerk's office

Mail - You may also call the County Clerk's office at 505-662-8010 to have a registration application form mailed to you. Find more information about registration and voting at Los Alamos County Clerk page.

Another helpful website is Vote.Org. Find out if you are registered to vote, if not you can register, and find out information about voting in your area.

If you have any problems with registration or voting, the Los Alamos County Clerk's office (505-662-8010) will work diligently to help you. If they are unable to resolve your problem, call 866-OUR-VOTE and leave a message.
