LWV Los Alamos

The League of Women Voters of Los Alamos promotes the informed and active participation of citizens in government by means of public forums, publications and studies. League members also observe the public meetings of local and state governmental bodies and commissions.

  • We sponsor candidate and issue forums prior to local, statewide and national elections. Please check our calendar for information about upcoming forums and other public meetings sponsored by LWVLA.

  • We publish Who's in Charge, a compendium of information and contacts for the government of Los Alamos County. Printed copies are available at the Mesa Public Library in Los Alamos and White Rock. We also publish Voters Guides prior to major elections.

  • We conduct studies of local, state and national issues, which may lead to new or revised local positions or to support for state and national positions. Ongoing studies are listed under Programs.

  • We provide observers at public meetings of interest to the League. Currently LWVLA members are observing meetings county meetings related to the development and implementation of the Los Alamos County Comprehensive Plan and meetings of the Los Alamos School Board.

The League is guided by the principles of the League of Women Voters, the bylaws of the League of Women Voters of Los Alamos, and by national, state and local positions adopted after study of the issues. A list of some common League terms also provides some insight into how the League conducts its business.
